The ATOS analyzer uses ultraviolet photochemical oxidation of organic impurities in the analyzed water to determine the concentration of total organic carbon (TOC). The result is gaseous CO2, which reacts with water to form carbonic acid

The conductometric sensors of the device measure the specific conductivity of water before and after oxidation caused by carbonic acid desociation. The analyzer's electronic units convert these data into units of organic carbon concentration and display the results, as well as graphs of TOC changes over time, on the LCD screen

Блок-схема анализатора АТОС

After turning on the analyzer, water enters the UV reactor through a 100-μm filter and a conductometric sensor, where the temperature and specific electrical conductivity of the water are measured.  By the analyzer's electronic unit command, the control valve is turned off and the water flow through the analytical path of the reactor is shut off.

After this input, the reactor is irradiated with UV radiation.
At the end of the light cycle (oxidation cycle), the flow stabilization pump turns on and water from the reactor enters the conductometric sensor unit, where the temperature and specific conductivity of the oxidized water are measured.

The source and oxidized water measured values of conductivity temperature are transmitted to the control unit, which, according to a given algorithm, calculates the concentration of total organic carbon (TOC)
The calculated TOC value (in ppb units, 1ppb = 1μg / liter) is displayed on the analyzer's LCD display. In addition, the indicator displays the temperature values and the specific electrical conductivity (or specific resistance) of water reduced to 25C.

TOC measurement mode

The main mode of operation is automatic measurements with a frequency of once every six minutes and indication of the obtained TOC values, temperatures and specific conductivity or water resistance on the screen. In addition, graphs of the TOC value change over time are plotted on the screen, and the measurement results can be transmitted via an external interface to a computer or an enterprise information and control network.

The results are stored in the internal memory of the device (called journal or "Notebook") and can be viewed by the operator without interrupting its normal operation. In this mode, the screen displays the values of TOC, temperature and conductivity or resistance of the currently selected measurement. The operator can move along the TOC graph from measurement to measurement within the entire memory of the analyzers (in the standard set - 1000 measurements, i.e. more than four days of continuous work)

Conductivity meter mode

In this mode, readings of electrical conductivity. Specific electrical resistance and temperatures of the analyzed water.

DECODINGS TO CONNECTORS AND UNITS

LOCATED ON THE SIDE WALLS OF THE ANALYZER.

Quick step connection for analyzed water inlet. A tube with an outer diameter of 4 mm is used. The length of the inlet tube should not exceed 2 m from the sampler on the water main.

Quick step connectionfor draining water from the analyzer. A tube with a diameter of 6 mm and a length of 2 meters is used. Longer drain tube possible.

The external actuators connectors, which should be triggered when the critical TOC value is reached, specified by the user in the device settings.

An interface connector through which the device interacts with a computer or an enterprise monitoring system.

Connector for connecting a supply voltage of 12 V.

COMPUTER OPERATION AND ALARM SIGNALING

Any device can be connected to the analyzer to signal if the TOC value is out of range. The maximum permissible TOC concentration is user-defined.

The device is connected to the dedicated ALARM socket. In the event of an emergency, the device outputs a voltage is 12 V to the indicated contacts of the connector with a maximum allowable current of 0.1 A.

Any executive device is connected. The alarm can be disabled by unchecking the On / Off box.

The analyzer allows you to transfer data stored in its log ("notebook") to a computer. In addition, it is possible to "eavesdrop" on the computer the results of each measurement carried out in real time. This is ensured by the ATOC User Monitor (AUM) software included in the delivery.

The AUM software does not require installation and can be transferred to any computer by copying the AUM.exe file. Interaction with the device from the point of view of this program is carried out through the COM port, the number of which can be changed using the Options - COM port menu. Physically, for communication with the analyzer, an RS-485 interface adapter is used, connected to one of the USB ports of the computer, and a cable connecting the adapter with the instrument itself
